Description

Amazing though it is, the story of how Melody Gardot overcame the results of a near-fatal accident to become one of the vocal sensations of 2008 is not the much extraordinary thing concerning the 23-year-old Philadelphia singer-songwriter. It is just this here is a voice in a million; one this touches the soul.

Melody's debut album `Worrisome Heart' introduced, in The Sunday Times' words: "a remarkable talent by any measure", together with songs of quiet, wistful poetry in arrangements this "ooze afterwards-hours sophistication". Yet the follow-up, for open in April 2009, marks a substantial jump forward. `My One And Only Thrill' is an intensely creative milestone, transcending genre distinctions of jazz and blues to propose a haunting personal musical statement this will appeal to all music-lovers. As together with her acclaimed exist shows she captures and holds her audience in the palm of her hand.

These eleven songs, covering a wide range of emotions, are all her own except for an irresistible, Brazilian get on Somewhere Over The Rainbow. It would get a heart of stone to remain unmoved by the poignant title track My One And Only Thrill. And when the album is finished (as Irving Berlin wrote truly) the song is over, but the Melody lingers on . . .

This CD is so mellow, moody, sexy. Very easy to listen to. Melodys voice and diction are just superb.

Saw her at the Kimmel Center in Philadelphia, PA. October 17, 2009. Blown away. What an exceptional show. Such feeling and soulful eeriness in her voice. Band was great as well. All 3 albums are good. Something in her music struck a chord in me. Can't wait to see them again. Come back home to play in Philly soon.

What have I been listening to for the last two years instead of listening to Melody Gardot? Whatever it was, it couldn't have possibly been this good.

I just stumbled upon this album while browsing cds on Amazon. I could tell just by listening to the little sound clips that this was going to be an amazing album. It is so calming. Her voice is beautiful and wraps you up in warmth.

My friend heard just one song of hers (Worrisome Heart) off my ipod playlist and she went instantly crazy, immediately purchasing the album.

Frankly, I don't even like jazz much, but I love this album.

From what I've read, Melody Gardot knows a lot about life for someone so young, and it shows in the music. Deep, calming and classy. Glad I bought it.
