Right after this bit of lyrics it sounds like Yes using a moog or synthesizer.

I have to say that I really appreciate the Raconteurs first record, "Broken Boy Soldiers", however "Consolers of the Lonely", feels like a band trying to meet a contractual deadline. This is probably not the case because we have witnessed a strong decline in Jack White's songwriting since "Broken Boy Soldiers". Personally I feel that both Dead Weather albums, and Icky Thump have been composed of mostly generic sounding shloop. The worst part of this release is the lyrics, which are bordering on being ridiculous if not down right cheesy. I do like Brendan Benson's solo records, but he cannot write lyrics that are any deeper than a soup bowl. Pass on this one. Get the White Stripes records up to and including the great "Get Behind me Satan". Also the Greenhornes are definitely worth checking out. This is a case where the sum of parts do not add up to a great climax. It's kind of like Audioslave, where as the original bands (Soundgarden and Rage) were far superior to the end product.

I could listen to this album every day. Vocals and guitars are outstanding, rhythm section outstanding. Excellent songwriting with a good blend of musical styles - not all the songs sound like the same tune over and over. Real musicians playing real music in the age of auto tuned hip hop electronic garbage is always refreshing to me.

ps. I saw the Raconteurs play live two summers ago in Cincinnati. Awesome.

If the Raconteurs rocked with their first album, their second one definately rolls. From start to finish, Jack White leads a rollickingly adept team of musical masters into walls of sound that recalls the best of Sabbath, Zeppelin, and the Band, creating a vibe that manages to feel fresh, yet familiar.

If Jack White is involved, I'm never disappointed: however, Consolers of The Lonely is absolutely awesome. I loved every track. I would say its much better than Broken Boy Soldiers. Can't go wrong with this one.
